Research Topic: Mechanisms of cancer development in APC mutation-negative CRC
Email: barisk@email.arizona.edu
Research Interests: I am interested in the mechanisms of cancer development in adenomatous polyposis coli (APC)mutation-negative colorectal cancer(CRC). Studies have shown that nearly 80% of the colorectal cancers has a mutation in APC gene. However, in early-onset CRCs, APC mutation is less frequent. Understanding of how APC mutation-negative cancers occurs and develop is one the fundamental question in this research area. My research focuses on how APC mutation-negative cancer are responding WNT signaling in patient-derived organoid models since APC is one of the components of the destruction complex that helps degradation of B-catenin transcription factor.
