Maureen Galindo
PhD Student
Year entered the Ph.D. Program: Fall 2019
Research Advisor: Nathan Ellis
Research Topic: The genetic etiology of hypermobile Ehlers Dnalos Syndrome
Research Interests: In recent years, Dr. Galindo has conducted research to address challenges in TNXB analysis due to limitations of short-read sequencing. She recently completed a PhD on the role of TNXB in Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), developing new techniques to investigate TNXB variants, showing the low prevalence of causative variants of TNXB in hEDS. In addition to her research, Dr. Galindo works as a genetics nurse in a pediatric clinic, educating families and healthcare professionals, and teaching clinical genetics to students.
